What We Do

We’re Decidedly Dorset!

John & Pauline Bale

John and I love Dorset, have lived in West Dorset all our lives and we’re happy to share our passion about everything Bridport and local. We were Dairy Farmers, sold up in 2002 and moved 10 miles to Highway Farm, it was a big move! We have our roots in the soil with local connections and much involvement and a wealth of local knowledge.

There are simply stunning views from every aspect of our farmhouse with Colmers Hill, our local iconic hill, in full view and a joy. We walk daily with our dogs over Eype Downs towards the sea and we love Bridport, it’s arty, foodie, full of fun and festivals with lively street market days, very friendly and lots going on all year round. Many of our guests fall in love with Dorset and keep coming back for more.
Highway Farm is in a brilliant location from which to explore, by car, by bus, or on foot. Excellent local pubs on our doorstep, one in walking distance plus a feast of gourmet and quirky eating places that we are happy to point you to. The Fishing Lakes are stocked full of crafty fish and a great way to relax and view the local wildlife, and we aim to inspire you with our Creative Arty Workshops Days.

Highway Farm is walking distance to the cliffs of the world famous Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site, including Golden Cap, the highest point on the south cliffs of England. We have rolling hills, meandering river valleys and many picturesque villages in West Dorset. We are also very close to a fossil hunter’s paradise at Charmouth – visit the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and the ‘Pearl of Dorset’ – Lyme Regis.
