Wildlife and Walks

Explore our unspoilt grounds, there may be cattle or sheep grazing the pastures. Hunt for sloes, wild damsons or hazelnuts in the hedgerows, harvest blackberries and enjoy the abundance of wildlife. Rabbits galore, buzzards that soar the thermals above the valley, ducks that dive, listen for the woodpeckers and watch the tame geese who march to the lakes on their daily routine!

Maps of walks and a comprehensive folder of local information, attractions and events are available for guests and we have a wealth of local knowledge to offer.

The breathtaking views from the coastal footpath are accessible from Highway Farm and well worth the effort !  Bus 31 stops opposite the entrance to Highway Farm and is a good way of walking the coastal footpaths - you can walk to Charmouth and catch the bus back! (The bus to catch is the number 31 or 53).

Paul Langley and friends walked from the farm to Eype, along the coastal footpath to Charmouth and returned by bus! 10.25 miles. See the photos:- http://www.geocities.com/paulangley/GoldenCap.html

Our local Pub, the Ilchester Arms in the village of Symondsbury is a half-mile walk along country lanes where you can enjoy a local pint, good food and a warm welcome!

A recommendation:
'We arrived at Highway Farm soaked to the bone but were met with a very warm welcome.  Pauline soon had our gear out to dry including putting our boots on the aga which meant they were dry and warm the next day.  Highway Farm is easy to reach from the coast path and the Jurassic Coast bus runs past the front door making it an ideal base for walking the south coast path. Thanks again for looking after us'
Regards

Why not experience an interesting day-trek with the Brit Valley Llamas, walking from Highway Farm.
